I always eat too quickly and rush around a lot like most people.
I need to think about the principles of slow food....
What is Slow food?
According to Slow food 'Slow Food is a global, grassroots organization with supporters in 150 countries around the world who are linking the pleasure of good food with a commitment to their community and the environment. Slow
Food believes that everyone has a fundamental right to the pleasure of
good food and consequently the responsibility to protect the heritage of
biodiversity, culture and knowledge that make this pleasure possible"

Slow Food Principles focus on living an unhurried life. Which should begin at the table.
Home Cooking
Growing your own Vegetables
Buying ethical products
Enjoy the Simple pleasures of food
Eat less processed and sugar based foods.

Is Rooibos a Tea?
Is Rooibos a Tea? I assumed it was. At A Fairtrade Market about 4 years ago a customer came up to me and said I should be making Rooibos Chai. I was reading a blog recently where someone said it wasn't. So I decided to look it up.
According to Wise Geek... Rooibos means Red Bush, it is native to South Africa "Some consumers mistakenly call the beverage brewed from these leaves “red tea” when it is not a true tea, since it does not come from the Camellia sinensis plant. Instead it is classified as a tisane, an herbal brew, and it is handled very differently than tea is"

I just saw these two quotes and I had to publish them..........
"When I visited coffee farms in Ethiopia, the farmers could not believe we spend a week's wages in their country on a cup of coffee in ours, because they see so little of the profit"
Colin Firth
"Before you finish eating your breakfast this morning you've depended on half the world. This is the way our universe is structured. We aren't going to have peace on earth until we recognise this basic fact.
Martin Luther King Jnr.

Chai mamma is back
After a hiatus I am back. I have noticed that over the last three years that the amount of people drinking tea has increased. Glad to see that they are drinking tea not powder. Thanks to the popularity of High Tea, Tea is back in Vogue! I must tell you a funny story about Chai before I sign off.
My friend and I walked in to a Cafe one Sunday Afternoon....we started talking about Chai to the owners because we noticed that they were using powdered Chai. I tried to explain to them that Chai is really Masala chai and its brewed tea with spices. They didn't seem to understand wanted to known why the powdered Chai was sweet and how they could serve it without sugar.....lol All my friend kept on saying was OMG they don't know how to make a cup of tea.
